Oh, what a privilege it is to be alive! | A short poem about wandering soul

To be alive is the greatest achievement. To have a body, exploring and experiencing the world are privileges that any soul shall wish for. Unfortunately, we take these for granted and explore ways to make ourselves suffer by adding desires and unrealistic expectations. We forget the myriad of happiness that the state of “being alive” provides us and embarks on an endless journey to fulfil our greed.

This short poem, filled with positivity and gratitude, is my humble attempt to deviate from my usual pessimistic style of writing. I hope you enjoy :–)

Oh, what a privilege it is to be alive!

A wandering soul bowed down
And whispered in the air
“Oh, what a privilege it is
to be alive!
Touch and feel
the things I loved”

The tender kiss of
a loving mother!
The gentle pat of
her great affection
and the warmth of her
tight embrace

“Oh, what a privilege it is
to be alive!

The glorious days with
loyal friends!
Playing in surreal lands
where sorrow ends
And the joyful memories
they impart

“Oh, what a privilege it is
to be alive!
For a wandering soul
to thrive.
